My Projects

I have selected the following projects to showcase the skills I built during my MPH program. My projects primarily focus on improving the health of underserved populations through effective and culturally sensitive communication, improving access to care, and increasing trust between communities and health professionals. My projects also highlight my data analysis, data visualization, academic writing, and multisectoral communication skills. Overall, my projects demonstrate my commitment to health equity and reducing health disparities in all communities.

I wrote a White paper for Siloam Health in accordance with a CDC foundation grant to reduce the burden of COVID morbidity and mortality in refugee, immigrant, and migrant (RIM) populations in Nashville. I planned and attended focus groups, conducted one-on-one interviews with Siloam community health workers, and analyzed REDCap data.

When working with The Tennessee Department of Health, I used Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring Systems (PRAMS) and SAS 9.4 to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on prenatal care utilization and delivery. This project strengthened my data analysis and data visualization skills while giving me experience working with large public health datasets.

My final project is a white paper that shares how foundations can operationalize equity in their programming and share power with the communities they serve. The white paper explores how foundations can practice deeper inclusion in engaging and supporting their partners. The paper focuses on strategies The Healing Trust uses to improve health equity and reduce health disparities in Middle TN minority communities that can be applied to a larger global context.

I have made significant contributions and demonstrated leadership in five programs

that are positively impacting people, communities, and health systems in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Through my work developing and evaluating training programs for faculty in the health sciences, I have helped equip educators from multiple countries across the education continuum to enhance their practice, positively impacting the preparation of their students to enter health professions and improve health outcomes in their communities.
