“Public health is a powerful tool to level that playing field, to bend the arc of our country away from distrust and disparities and back towards equity and justice.”
— Leana S. Wen
MY MISSION STATEMENT
I am dedicated to reducing health disparities resulting from racial injustice by increasing confidence in the health system and increasing access to care for all populations. To make a difference, I see myself working to improve communication and reduce gaps in healthcare access. In the MPH program, I have used my data analysis and visualization skills on numerous projects to educate the public and make health information easily accessible to all populations. My internship and practicum experiences have given me an extensive understanding of effective strategies to advance health equity among minority, refugee, immigrant, and migrant communities. I have also observed key strategies to increase access to care, increase health equity, and decrease racial health disparities through my experiences with foundations, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and government organizations. My diverse experiences also give me advanced knowledge of involving various stakeholders from multiple sectors. I am so grateful for the opportunities I have had in the MPH program that enabled me to build these skills, and I am equipped to take the next steps in my career.
